Travis & Lori Matheny

Travis & Lori started Fusion church in 2007.  After serving in ministry as youth pastors for eight years, they began to see many young couples disconnecting from church.  They desired to have a less traditional church expression that would reach a new generation of adults.  In addition to being pastors at Fusion, Travis runs a successful media marketing company and Lori is a high school math teacher in Decatur.  Travis is also on the board of a missions organization in Nairobi, Kenya and travels there often to teach leadership principles to pastors.

They have 2 daughters, Madeline and Clara.

Mason & Jill Harper

Mason & Jill have been pastors at Fusion from the beginning.  They have years of ministry experience both in volunteer and staff roles.  They are relentless in their commitment to people and have an amazing gift to help others connect to God and each other.  Mason is an accounts representative at Textron and runs a small engine repair company on the side.  Jill is a photographer and a stay-at-home mom. They have two children, Zeke and Suzie.

The Foundations of Fusion Church



Fusion Church is here to help people discover and become who Jesus created them to be. The keys to that vision are below.

  • Christ Centered - We seek to be Christ oriented, not consumer oriented. When we meet together, his presence is valued above all. With Christ as center, the only way to live our mission is through love and love expresses itself through serving others.
  • Community - We are family. Because we are family, we can be real about ourselves in order to develop relationships that last a lifetime. We value life lived together in an expression of love for each another. What we are doing is of little importance if we are not doing it out of love.
  • Culture - We believe in being fully integrated into our culture in order that we can offer truth that is relevant. Instead of creating a Christian subculture, we choose to express ourselves in a way that allows us to relate to those who surround us while living according to the unchanging truth of Jesus, the greatest lover.
  • Creativity - We value creativity in everything we do. When we begin to become like Jesus, He inspires ideas that lead to new and creative ways to live our mission. Living a life of love for others is the fuel for creativity.
  • Change - Form always submits to function. We believe that God is guiding us to new and different paths. We are not an institution; we are an organism, alive with change. While the truth never changes, the methods always do and love is the catalyst for all change.
